Brunberg’s liquorice took steps towards new growth
The Brunberg liquorice family was extended with filled liquorice and at the same time the packaging design of the entire liquorice assortment was renewed.
The oven-fresh liquorice has a thick liquorice shell and three charming filling flavours: fresh orange, mildly spicy raspberry-chili and sweet chocolate. The new, wilder design of the liquorice bags is sure to attract attention on the liquorice shelf: these bags are hard to resist.
The traditional black liquorice was joined by filled liquorice
Since 1932, the scent of fresh liquorice has wafted through the alleys of Porvoo. The same scent still enchants passers-by and visitors of the factory shop. Liquorice has long been one of the most popular sweets in the Brunberg factory shop.
The idea to expand the liquorice range was born when the previous liquorice production line had reached the end of its life cycle. Brunberg therefore decided to upgrade the equipment so that it could also be used to produce filled liquorice. Different flavour options for the filling were explored and three flavours were eventually chosen: orange, raspberry-chili and chocolate.
“The product development team tasted several handmade samples and selected the flavours to move forward. Chocolate felt natural because we are a chocolate factory, and the other flavours were so good that we wanted to launch them,” says Katarina Enholm, CEO of Brunberg Oy.
Fairly sized liquorice bags
Brunberg’s own stores have been selling filled liquorice since autumn 2022 and these new liquorice delicacies have been welcomed with joy. The filled liquorice was given playful and colourful packaging and at the same time the packaging design for the entire liquorice assortment was renewed.
The size of all liquorice bags is appropriately large, 200 grams. The traditional black liquorice continues to be available in 400 gram bags.
All liquorice varieties are lactose free, milk free and soy free. Brunberg’s traditional liquorice and oat liquorice is also vegan. The familiar black liquorice and the new filled liquorice are immediately available in Brunberg’s stores in Porvoo and in Brunberg’s online store, and from summer 2023 in grocery stores throughout Finland.
