Brunberg has a long and interesting history which starts as early as 1871. We have created a timeline with the most important events of our company.
The bakery is founded – in 1871

Bakery apprentice A.W. Lindfors is granted permission by the Magistrate to start bakery activities. 31.7.1871 was registered as starting date.
The factory is founded – in 1897

A.W. Lindfors founds A.W. Lindfors candy and marmalade factory
Change of owner of the sweets factory – in 1898

Ivar Lindfors, A.W. Lindfors’ son, buys his father’s sweets factory.
Lennart starts as apprentice – in 1907

16-year-old Lennart Brunberg starts as apprentice in Lindfors’ factory.
New factory premises – in 1908

A.W. Lindfors sweets and marmalade factory buys new premises adjacent to the Town Park.
The factory turns into a limited company – in 1913.

A.W. Lindfors candy and marmalade factory was turned into a limited company.
The company grows – in 1920

A.W. Lindfors candy and marmalade factory is the second biggest company in Porvoo.
Truffles – in 1920

Truffle was included in Brunberg’s assortment in the 1920’s.
Founding of the sweets factory – in 1922

Lennart Brunberg founds his own sweets factory, the Brunberg candy factory.
Brunberg’s production grows – in 1927

The sweets production of Brunberg surpasses that of Lindfors.
The companies merge – in 1928

Lennart Brunberg buys Lindfors sweets factory. The company is named Oy Brunberg-Lindfors Ab.
Liquorice – in 1932

Liquorice was included in the assortment of Oy Brunberg-Lindfors Ab.
Fire – in 1945

Lennart Brunberg dies in a fire which destroys the family’s home and the office and delivery departments of the factory.
Börje Brunberg Managing Director – in 1947

Börje Brunberg is appointed Managing Director.
Change of name – in 1958

Oy Brunberg-Lindfors Ab is changed to Brunberg Oy.
Tarmola – in 1965

The Brunberg factory is moved from the center of the city to Teollisuustie in Tarmola.
Bigger premises – in 1978.

The factory is moved to an even bigger plant close to the previous one.
Inauguration of the new factory – in 1988

The present factory at Veckjärventie is inaugurated.
Founding of the trust – in 1988

The Brunberg Foundation is founded with the aim to promote cultural life in Porvoo.
New Managing Director – in 1991

Börje Brunberg retires but continues as Chairman of the Board. Raimo Keskinen is appointed new Managing Director.
The new shop – in 1997

The new shop in Old Porvoo is started.

The factory is enlarged – in 2000

Brunberg buys adjacent site and warehouse and expands.
