Joyful news for all foam sweets fans – Brunberg’s Orange Kiss is the new addition this spring

Brunberg’s Orange Kiss will be launched as a seasonal product in March 2024. Introduced in 1951, the chocolate coated foam sweets are a delightful taste experience, given as gifts, taken as souvenirs and served at coffee tables and events. In addition to the new fresh flavour, the kiss package has been redesigned and will be seen on all small kiss packs before summer.

Kisses have been one of Brunberg’s best-selling products since they started being manufactured more than 70 years ago. The chocolate covered foam sweets feature a tasty waffle, fluffy sweet foam and a dark chocolate coating. The basic assortment includes vanilla, strawberry and mocca, and seasonal flavours available all year round.

The Orange Kiss combines classic flavours

The orange kiss is like a fresh breeze from the tropics. It combines the classic flavours of fresh orange and smooth, rich chocolate. The thin chocolate cover hides a feather-light orange foam underneath and the base is a tasty waffle. When developing new flavours, we always listen to our customers’ wishes and we have developed the orange kiss at the request of our customers.

“The orange kiss was my first product development project at Brunberg. Consumers have been asking for this springy, refreshing flavour and it was already decided before I started working on it. All I had to do was fine-tune the taste and colour. It was a great way to learn how to make kisses! I discovered that getting the right shade of colour is not as simple as I thought. Kisses have their own specific requirements in terms of raw materials, and you have to follow them exactly. We finally got a really good colour, after a couple of production runs that were too yellow and numerous handmade samples. I am satisfied with both the colour and the taste of the kiss,” says Piia Hyttinen, Product Developer at Brunberg.

Packaging reform aims to reduce the use of plastics

The visual appearance of the six-piece kiss boxes will be redesigned and the plastic window will be removed from the lid of the box. By removing the plastic window, we will be able to reduce 440 kilos of plastic per year. In addition, the kisses will be wrapped in a thinner wrapping than before, reducing the consumption of aluminium foil by 10 % per year.

The plastic window has been a visual element in the packaging of the kisses and has been difficult to recycle separately. With the packaging reform, we are one step closer to our goal of reducing the use of plastic in our packaging. In the future, all kiss packages will be recycled as carton.

The new packages will be on store shelves by summer 2024. The first packaging with a new visual identity will be the seasonal product Brunberg Orange Kiss, followed by strawberry, vanilla and mocha kisses and later also truffle boxes.
